Disquieting Nature, an exhibition of video and works on paper, describes the fateful linking of slavery and disenfranchisement to the Delta blues, a genuine American music whose influence is felt around the world. In 2011, Christine Meisner traveled for six weeks in Mississippi, filming a journey into the geographies where blues music first emerged. Out of this exploration, she produced the video "Disquieting Nature," combining video from the Mississippi River with elaborate lyrics and orchestration. Together with Meisner's drawings and maps, Disquieting Nature meditates on how violent events remain as vivid memories in the landscape.
