Of Cantonese and Hokkien ancestry, Sze Tsung Nicolás Leong spent his childhood in Mexico City, London, and Los Angeles. He attended the Art Center College of Design from 1987 to 1989; received a bachelor’s degree and the Eisner Prize in Photography from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1993; and earned a master’s degree from Harvard University in 1998. Since the early 2000s, Leong has engaged with photography projects that document the urban transformation of large cities in China and across the globe.
