Chinese, b. 1962; lives and works in Beijing, China
Hai Bo graduated from the Printmaking Department of the Fine Art Institute of Jilin in 1984. Since then, he has explored the historical evolution of photographic portraiture in modern Chinese history, often adding a contemporary revelation to historical photographs by imitating the aesthetic of photographs from the Mao Zedong era. In recent years, Hai has placed more emphasis on photographing the vast, yet barren landscape of the Northeastern region of China.
